West Virginia IWW
empowering folks to take charge of their workplaces and communities
Feel alone? well, you’re not…
The IWW is a worker-led union dedicated to direct action, workplace democracy, and industrial unionism.
Since our founding in 1905, the IWW has helped to organized migrant workers, farm workers, rail workers, truck drivers, prisoners, students and education workers, and more! Our union songs - many of which you can still hear sung today - remind us of the world which we are creating; a world of workers, run by workers. What unites us is our membership in the working class, regardless of where you work or what your industry is. We are the “One Big Union” uniting all members of the working class.
Our local was chartered in 2019, with the 2018 education strike wave helping to generate greater interest in worker-led movements and direct action to win demands. Since then, we have helped win members backpay, win union recognition, negotiate contracts, and train new worker-organizers across the state.
Our members are active in their communities and in their union, building local power to win wide-ranging demands.

"Solidarity is what we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: We must be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same thing."
— Mary Harris "Mother" Jones
